Time flies, het eerste decennium van de 21ste eeuw is bijna voorbij.
Tijd voor een lijstje met de 10 beste platen van dit decennium.
Hieronder Hund i snors selectie. Hund i snor vraagt aan de lezers om ook hun lijstje kenbaar te maken. Het was uiteraard geen gemakkelijke selectie en onze focus is voornamelijk op rockplaten gevallen. Toch merken we achteraf een uitgebalanceerde selectie, met 5 platen uit Europa en 5 uit de States.
1. Moloko - Statues
Wat ons betreft een plaat van het kaliber van Doolittle van Pixies. Je kan hier eindeloos naar blijven luisteren. Het nonchalante charisma van Roisin Murphy gekoppeld aan ijzersterke songs en een prachtige orchestratie.
2. Sophia - People are like seasons
Meesterwerk van onze favoriete treurwilg uit San Diego.
3. The National - Boxer
Dit vijftal uit Cincinnati, nu residerend in Brooklyn, behoort tot het beste wat de nieuwe lichting rockbands hebben voortgebracht de laatste jaren. Boxer is hun grote doorbraak.
4. Portishead - Third
Het was lang wachten op hun derde, maar het loonde zeer de moeite. Verschroeiende plaat.
5. Sigur Ros - Takk
Ijzingwekkend mooie muziek van Iceland's finest. Een genre op zich.
6. Mogwai - The hawk is howling
Bij wijlen vernietigende gitaarrock van de vaandeldragers van de postrock uit Glasgow.
7. Gutter Twins - Saturnalia
Donker meesterwerk van twee doorgewinterde rockers die elk uit hun goot gekropen zijn.
8. LCD Soundsystem - LCD soundsystem
Uit New York, en dus ver van het electromekka wat toch de driehoek Duitsland-Frankrijk-België is. Toffe peer James Murphy bewijst dat fijne electrobeats ook samen kunnen gaan met goeie songs.
9. MGMT - Oracular spectacular
Wellicht de hipste plaat van het decennium bekoorde jong en oudere jongeren. Een instant-klassieker. Ook deze kids maken superieure electropop, ditmaal aan de Westcoast.
10.Madrugada - Madrugada
Finale, bloedmooie plaat van het Noors trio, waarvan de gitarist kort na de opnamen stierf. Met de geweldige, aan Nick Cave verwante stem van zanger Sivert Høyem
